3 PM to 5 PM, Monday, December 2, Preceding Rohatsu Sesshin 2013
Given the importance of posture in our zazen practice, and the emphasis on zazen in our Rohatsu sesshin, this opportunity for extended zazen instruction will be offered by Marie Grace Brook and Peter Szydlowski.
Marie, a Jikoji resident caretaker, has extensive experience in meditation and various bodywork techniques. Peter has been sitting for decades and has been giving zazen instruction since before his ordination.
They will demonstrate “correct posture” options on the zabuton as well as in a chair. Good posture can improve our sitting practice by increasing physical comfort, encouraging subtle energy flows of the body and energy field, and accessing our natural capacity for inner transformation. Personalized posture adjustments will be given to any who request such.
This mini-workshop is open to all, regardless of practice experience or participation in this sesshin.
Note: Oryoki or Zazen instruction if needed also available between 4 and 6 pm.
See the Sesshins Info page for more information about sesshins.
